InSite professionals were in charge of all construction layout activities for Interchange 6 of the Turnpike widening program from Exit 6-9. The project consisted of 5 flyover structures and 2 local roadway overpasses along with 11 MSE retaining walls. Each bridge structure was supported by either large diameter drilled shafts or pile supported spread footings. In addition to substructure layout, InSite professionals were also responsible for calculating concrete bridge deck elevations for the flyover superstructures, which is a very complicated task given the complex geometry and site conditions. Due to the extensive roadway grading and strict criteria on profiling accuracy, the contractor implemented Leica machine control into the fleet. InSite professionals were directly involved in setting up roadway TIN surfaces for upload into the excavators, dozers, and graders.
